A MEMORIAL TO MARY

Jesus climaxed His praise for Mary with these words.

“Assuredly, I say to you, wherever this gospel is preached
in the whole world, what this woman has done will also be told
as a memorial to her.”
MARK 14:9

Let us attempt to do a memorial tribute to Mary, in keeping with what Jesus spoke about her.

1. A tribute to her understanding of Jesus

She may not have been chosen to preach the Gospel as the men were, but her understanding of the Lord Jesus was not inferior!

a) There was depth
b) There was sensitivity
c) There was tenderness
To Mary, the death of Jesus was not a theoretical theological fact. Jesus was always real and precious.

2. A tribute to her love for Jesus

The love that Mary had for the Savior was truly exemplary!

a) She possessed a love that expressed itself in practical ways.
b) She possessed a love that dared to risk the criticism of friends and foe.
c) She possessed a love that dared to make significant sacrifices.

3. A tribute to her genuine faith in Jesus

What is genuine faith? Mary said not a word in this giving of her love gift to Jesus!

a) Her faith would serve as a yardstick for genuineness.
b) Her depth of faith would challenge all to deepen their faith.
c) Her faith would serve as an inspiration.
May we desire our personal faith in the Lord Jesus to soar to greater heights!
