"He has made the earth by His power"
Text: Jeremiah 51:15
THE MAJESTIC POWER OF GOD
The LORD declares to Jeremiah the majesty of His might and power. He has never lost that power. The power of the mightiest nation cannot be compared with the might of God
“He has made the earth by His power;
He has established the world by His wisdom,
And stretched out the heaven by His understanding.
When He utters His voice—
There is a multitude of waters in the heavens:
‘He causes the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth;
He makes lightnings for the rain;
He brings the wind out of His treasuries.'”
Jeremiah 51:15-16
1. “He has made the earth by His power; He has established the world by His wisdom,
and stretched out the heaven by His understanding”
a) The power of God.
That power was displayed when He made the earth.
b) The wisdom of God.
It takes great wisdom to establish the world.
c) The understanding of God.
This is a reference to the vast and profound knowledge of God!
2. “When He utters His voice— There is a multitude of waters in the heavens:
‘He causes the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth;
He makes lightnings for the rain; He brings the wind out of His treasuries'”
a) All God needs to do is to utter His voice.
b) The following takes place:
i) He creates a multitude of waters in the heavens.
ii) He causes the vapours to ascend from the ends of the earth.
iii) He makes lightning to accompany the rain.
iv) He raises the wind too.
(The word “treasuries” is used to symbolise the wind as a treasure.)
c) Psalm 29 is a Psalm written by David to extol God and the power of His voice.
