"None shall return except those who escape"

Text: Jeremiah 44:14

A WORD OF HOPE

A severe word of warning was given to all who desired to flee to Egypt. They would meet with death there. However, a word of hope was given to those who would flee from the wicked people who were coercing the remnant of Judah to go to Egypt with them.

“For I will punish those who dwell in the land of Egypt,
as I have punished Jerusalem, by the sword, by famine, and by pestilence,
so that none of the remnant of Judah
who have gone into the land of Egypt to dwell there shall escape or survive,
lest they return to the land of Judah, to which they desire to return and dwell.
For none shall return except those who escape.”
