"Your wound is severe"

Text: Jeremiah 30:12

AN ASSESSMENT OF THE AILMENTS OF ISRAEL

Israel had not fully comprehended the real spiritual state of their nation. The LORD had to give a candid evaluation of their state.

“For thus says the LORD:
‘Your affliction is incurable,
Your wound is severe.
There is no one to plead your cause,
That you may be bound up;
You have no healing medicines.'”
Jeremiah 30:12-13

1. “For thus says the LORD”

a) Jeremiah might be the prophet.

b) But the source of his message was from the LORD Himself.

2. “Your affliction is incurable”

a) The incurable affliction that Israel was suffering.

i) Invasion of Israel by the Assyrians.

ii) Invasion of Judah by the Babylonians.

iii) Ruled by the Medo-Persians.

b) In the future years.

i) The Greeks would conquer the world.

ii) And the Romans would rule the world next.

3. “Your wound is severe”

a) War after war had taken a toll on the nation of Israel.

b) It was a wounded nation.

c) The wound inflicted was a very severe one.

4. “There is no one to plead your cause, that you may be bound up; you have no healing medicines”

a) Israel had no one to plead on its behalf.

i) No political allies.

ii) No spiritual intercessors.

b) Thus, Israel was not bound up.

i) Its wound was an open one.

ii) It could cause further complications.

c) No healing medicines.

i) No one was skilled enough to heal the nation.

ii) If the LORD does not send deliverance, Israel would perish.
