“Disaster shall go forth from nation to nation”

Text: Jeremiah 25:32

AN OMINOUS PROPHECY II

This word about a global war situation cannot be ignored. The world at large is anything but a safe place. Mankind does not seem to have learned much though so many wars have been fought!

“Thus says the LORD of hosts:
‘Behold, disaster shall go forth
From nation to nation,
And a great whirlwind shall be raised up
From the farthest parts of the earth.
And at that day the slain of the LORD shall be
from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth.
They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried;
they shall become refuse on the ground.'”
Jeremiah 25:32-33

1. “Thus says the LORD of hosts: ‘Behold, disaster shall go forth from nation to nation,
and a great whirlwind shall be raised up from the farthest parts of the earth'”

a) Disaster

i) War is truly a disaster.

ii) Nation will war against nation.

b) Compared to a great whirlwind.

i) A great whirlwind will wreak great havoc.

ii) When nation goes against nation, great would be the disaster.

2. “And at that day the slain of the LORD shall be from one end of the earth even to the other end of the earth”

a) This word describes a very severe death toll.

b) This is a prophetic word of warning about a great world war.

c) It would engulf the whole world (It would be worse than WW 2).

3. “They shall not be lamented, or gathered, or buried; they shall become refuse on the ground”

a) The death toll would be so great that the usual care for the dead would not be possible.

b) The dead

i) Would not be lamented

ii) Gathered

iii) Buried

c) Corpses would become like “refuse on the ground”.

i) This is a very grim picture of the future.

ii) The world has weapons of mass destruction.

iii) These weapons can cause this prophecy to be fulfilled easily.
