"THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS"

Text: Jeremiah 23:6

A PROFOUND PROPHECY II

This prophetic word offers a deeper glimpse about the identity of the King whom God would send! This King would be nothing like any of the kings of the past!

“In His days Judah will be saved,
And Israel will dwell safely;
Now this is His name by which He will be called:
‘THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS.'”
Jeremiah 23:6

1. “In His days Judah will be saved”

a) This King would cause Judah to be saved.

b) But the Salvation that He would give would be a different kind.

i) In the past, the word “salvation” was a reference to “deliverance”
from enemies.

ii) In the future, the “salvation” would be more of a spiritual nature.

2. “And Israel will dwell safely”

a) Israel would experience safety.

b) But this “safety” is a reference to eternal refuge.

3. “Now this is His name by which He will be called”

a) The name of this King would be a special one.

b) He would be given a special Title-Name.

4. “THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS”

a) He would bear the name of the LORD.

b) He would thus:

i) Have divine authority.

ii) Have divine power.

iii) He would have the full backing of the LORD.

c) Righteousness

i) He would be totally righteous.

ii) He would be able to impute righteousness
to all who would believe in Him.

d) The only person who can fulfil this role completely is the Lord Jesus Christ!
