"The Lord GOD will help Me"

Text: Isaiah 50:7

THE DEEP TRUST OF THE MESSIAH

The ministry God had assigned the Messiah was a huge one. It would involve intense suffering. The ministry was a very difficult and painful one! The Messiah responded with a deeply stirring faith!

“For the Lord GOD will help Me;
Therefore I will not be disgraced;
Therefore I have set My face like a flint,
And I know that I will not be ashamed.”
Isaiah 50:7

1. Trust in the LORD.

a) This is expected.

b) It should also be natural.

c) But Israel did not learn how to trust God deeply enough.

2. The Messiah’s stirring trust in God.

a) He did not expect His work to be easy.

b) But He trusted fully that God would be there to help Him every day.

c) The depth of His trust in His Father never wavered.

3. He refused to believe that He would be disgraced.

a) No matter how difficult His ministry would be.

b) No matter how strong the opposition may be.

c) God’s help would be totally sufficient for all His needs.

4. A Flint-like spirit.

a) The Messiah would have to be very strong and resolute.

b) He would have to be as hard as a flint in order to succeed.

5. A tremendous sense of confidence.

a) The Messiah would never need to feel ashamed.

b) He has done nothing to be ashamed of.

c) The work that He would succeed in accomplishing
cannot be measured for its worth is incalculable.
