"Your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob"

Text: Isaiah 49:26

WHAT SEEMS UNLIKELY

Some still queried what the LORD had promised. They used human logic to argue against what God said. To these doubters and nay-sayers, God’s promises cannot be fulfilled. The LORD answered the doubters strongly.

“Shall the prey be taken from the mighty,
Or the captives of the righteous be delivered?
But thus says the LORD:
‘Even the captives of the mighty shall be taken away,
And the prey of the terrible be delivered;
For I will contend with him who contends with you,
And I will save your children.
I will feed those who oppress you with their own flesh,
And they shall be drunk with their own blood as with sweet wine.
All flesh shall know
That I, the LORD, am your Saviour,
And your Redeemer, the Mighty One of Jacob.'”
Isaiah 49:24-26

b) The prey of the terrible captors will be delivered.

c) God Himself will contend with the mighty Babylonians.

d) He will personally save the children.

3. God will deal with the oppressors severely.

a) He will feed them with their own flesh.

b) They will be drunk with their own blood.

c) All will see what God would do.

d) They will know:

i) That the LORD is indeed the Saviour of His people.

ii) That He is indeed the Redeemer.

iii) He is the Mighty One of Jacob.
