Day 33

"A shelter from storm and rain"

Text: Isaiah 4:6

DIVINE PROTECTION

The LORD’s protection is to be deeply treasured. It should never be taken for granted in any way!

“Then the LORD will create above every dwelling place of Mount Zion,
and above her assemblies, a cloud and smoke by day
and the shining of a flaming fire by night.
For over all the glory there will be a covering.
And there will be a tabernacle for shade in the daytime from the heat,
for a place of refuge, and for a shelter from storm and rain.”
Isaiah 4:5-6

1. Mount Zion

a) The historical Zion (Jerusalem) was full of sin and iniquity.

b) The LORD will see to the thorough cleansing of Zion first.

c) They would then make up a holy future Zion.

d) The holy ones who dwell in Zion would experience special protection.

2. A description of the special protection.

a) The imagery of the Cloud and the Fire in the days of Moses was used.

i) By day “A cloud and smoke” would symbolize
God’s presence and protection.

ii) By night, there would be “The shining of a flaming fire”.

b) This would be the glorious covering that God would give to Zion.

i) This is a prophecy concerning the future Zion.

ii) This would take place when the Messiah reigns on earth.

3. Three further symbols were announced:

a) A Tabernacle for shade in the daytime.

b) A place of refuge.

c) A shelter from the storm and the rain.

All of these pointed to the special protection that God would give to the future Zion.
