"A generous man devises generous things"
Text: Isaiah 32:8
PEOPLE IN A RIGHTEOUS KINGDOM III
We have another glimpse of life that describes the reality even if the kingdom is ruled by a good and righteous king. This is a sobering word of truth!
“Also the schemes of the schemer are evil;
He devises wicked plans
To destroy the poor with lying words,
Even when the needy speaks justice.
But a generous man devises generous things,
And by generosity he shall stand.”
Isaiah 32:7-8
1. The problem of evil.
a) Evil will never go away.
b) It will always be a part of human life.
c) Even in the best of circumstances, evil will find expression.
2. The schemer.
a) He will continue to scheme.
b) Today, they are called “scams”.
c) His plans would be characterised:
i) By wickedness.
ii) By evilness.
3. The goals of the wicked schemer.
a) He will destroy the poor with lies.
b) He will prevent the needy from finding justice.
c) He will use every means at his disposal to harm the defenceless.
4. The generous.
a) Thank God for those who are generous.
b) They will remember the poor and needy.
c) By his generosity he will stand in the day of darkness.
d) His generous deeds would not be forgotten by the LORD.
