"I will encamp against you all around"

Text: Isaiah 29:3

WARNING OF THE FALL OF JERUSALEM

Judah did not give heed to the words of the LORD. Messages from the prophets like Isaiah was not taken seriously. A solemn word of warning was then issued. War would come to Jerusalem.

“I will encamp against you all around,
I will lay siege against you with a mound,
And I will raise siegeworks against you.
You shall be brought down,
You shall speak out of the ground;
Your speech shall be low, out of the dust;
Your voice shall be like a medium’s, out of the ground;
And your speech shall whisper out of the dust.”
Isaiah 29:3-4

1. Jerusalem would be besieged.

a) The LORD Himself would cause the siege to take place.

b) A description of the siege was given:

i) Jerusalem would be encamped around by enemies.

ii) A mound and other siegeworks would be raised against the capital.

c) The LORD declared that He Himself would go against Ariel.

2. The Consequences would be inevitable.

a) Jerusalem would be brought down.

b) The inhabitants would be brought to the lowest level.

c) The illustration used was poignant!
Judah would have the voice of a medium!

d) The antics of known mediums.

i) They speak in a very low voice.

ii) They speak as if they were brought down to the dust.

iii) They would speak only in whispers.

Would Judah now listen to the LORD as they heard this word of forewarning?
