"We might have strong consolation..."

Text: Hebrews 6:18

GOD’S DESIRE TO HELP MAN

God’s desire to help man find strong faith in Him is indisputable! The following text highlights this truth.

“That by two immutable things, in which it is impossible
for God to lie, we might have strong consolation who have
fled for refuge to lay hold of the hope set before us.”
Hebrews 6:18

1. Strong consolation

The following are some of the things that God has done to help us possess “strong consolation”.

a) God has given us His word of promise.
b) God has given us an oath on top of His word of promise.
c) God’s character is tied in to His promise and oath.
d) He cannot lie- nor would He need to do that.

2. Man’s part

a) He has fled to God for refuge.
i) He must believe that this act of faith on his part is not in vain.
ii) He must know God is a wonderful and proven refuge.
iii) He must believe that God would never let His heirs of promise down.
b) He has to lay hold of the hope set before him.
i) He must exercise his faith and patience
ii) He must seek to “imitate” the faith of people like Abraham.
iii) He must not fail to do his utmost to believe in the promises of God.

THE TESTING OF OUR FAITH

We must expect that our faith in God would be severely tested! We must not flinch at the testing of our faith. We will have the final victory in Christ if we were to walk in the steps of faith of Abraham.
