"Those who were once enlightened..."
Text: Hebrews 6:4
SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN THE OLD TESTAMENT ERA
Ancient Israel and Judah has known the blessings of God most abundantly! The following wonderful blessings were graciously extended to the two nations. Two special blessings may be singled out for special mention.
1. The covenants of God
a) Abrahamic Covenant
b) Levitical Covenant
c) Davidic Covenant
Sadly these covenants were not honoured and appreciated by the children of God!
2. The word of God
a) The written Scriptures
b) The spoken word of God that the prophets of God proclaimed
The Word of God was not treasured at all!
SPIRITUAL BLESSINGS IN THE NEW TESTAMENT ERA
Many blessings were graciously given by God! The author of Hebrews listed a few of them in the following text.
“For it is impossible for those who were once enlightened,
and have tasted the heavenly gift, and have become partakers
of the Holy Spirit, and have tasted the good word of God
and the powers of the age to come”
Hebrews 6:4-5
