"Exhorting one another..."

Text: Hebrews 10:25b

MEANINGFUL ASSEMBLIES

Christian gatherings can be so meaningful. The following text describes what can be done when believers gather together.

“Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together,
as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another,
and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Hebrews 10:25

1. As is the manner of some

a) There were some who had already withdrawn themselves from fellowship with others.
b) They had deliberately chosen not to assemble themselves with fellow-believers.

2. But exhorting one another

a) The word “exhortation” has a variety of applications.
i) Encouragement
ii) Instruction
iii) Practical support
iv) Sharing of good thoughts and experiences
b) The above are some of the things believers can do when they gather together.
i) Such gatherings ought to be organized/planned.
ii) Encouragement should be given to all to attend such gatherings
iii) Wonderful blessings are in store for those who assemble meaningfully.

3. And so much the more as you see the Day approaching

a) The Day approaching is a reference to the Return of the Lord Jesus Christ.
b) That Day is drawing ever nearer.
c) This reality should cause us to “so much the more” plan to assemble ourselves together for mutual support and encouragement.
