"Mark well who may enter the house"

Text: Ezekiel 44:5

THE ORDINANCES OF THE HOUSE OF GOD

The Lord brought Ezekiel to the front of the temple. The North entrance was used. The Eastern gate remained shut, even to Ezekiel.

“Also He brought me by way of the north gate
to the front of the temple;
so I looked, and behold,
the glory of the Lord filled the house of the Lord;
and I fell on my face.
And the Lord said to me,
‘Son of man, mark well,
see with your eyes and hear with your ears,
all that I say to you concerning
all the ordinances of the house of the Lord and all its laws.
Mark well who may enter the house
and all who go out from the sanctuary.'”
Ezekiel 44:4-5

1. The glory of the Lord.

a) It had entered through the Eastern gate.

b) It now filled the house of the Lord.

c) The glory of God impacted Ezekiel greatly.

i) He fell on his face in awe.

ii) He was humbled to be in the house of the Lord.

iii) This was the impact the glory of God had on the prophet.

2. Instructions from the Lord.

a) He was to mark what God was saying to him.

b) He must fully utilise his eyes and to hear with his ears all that God was saying.

3. Concerning the ordinances and the laws of the house of the Lord.

a) The people who come to the Temple must be carefully checked.

b) This was the house of the Lord.

i) It was holy and sacred.

ii) It was not open to everyone.

iii) The Temple was not a tourist attraction.

4. This was needed instruction.

a) The Temple in the past had been abused.

b) People who should have been barred were allowed entrance.

c) This was a problem that God sought to resolve.

d) Hence, Ezekiel was instructed to observe carefully who may or may not be allowed into the House of the Lord.
