"Transformed into the same image..."

Text: 2 Corinthians 3:18

READING THE SCRIPTURES EFFECTIVELY

Thank God for the inspired Scriptures! They bring so much enlightenment to our spiritual eyes!

“But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a
mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed
into the same image from glory to glory,
just as by the Spirit of the Lord.”
2 Corinthians 3:18

1. “But we all, with unveiled face”

a) All may have the figurative veil removed.
b) Through salvation in Christ, we now have “unveiled faces”.
c) We can read and see Jesus when we read the Scriptures.

2. “Beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord”

a) What do we see when we read the Scriptures with an unveiled face?
b) We will be able “to see the glory of the Lord”.
i) We will be able to see the only begotten of the Father.
ii) We will be able to see “His grace and the truth” (John 1:17-18).

3. “Being transformed into the same image”

a) God originally made man in His image.
b) The Lord Jesus Christ is “the express image” of God (Hebrews 1:3).
c) All believers are being transformed into the image of the Lord.

4. “From glory to glory”

a) The commencement of our salvation was truly glorious.
b) The continuing work of the Spirit of God is just as glorious.
c) One day, that work would be completed.
d) This work is being performed by the Spirit of the Lord.
e) He will continue to work in us “from glory to glory”.

5. “Just as by the Spirit of the Lord”

a) Only One with Divine power can do this glorious work of transforming us.
b) He is rightly called “The Spirit of the Lord”.
c) This is a reference to the Holy Spirit at work.
i) It is a definitive work.
ii) It is a work that is nothing short of being miraculous.

May our hearts feel a great sense of gratitude as we note the involvement of God in our life.
