"Flee from idolatry."

Text: 1 Corinthians 10:14

DID IDOLATRY POSE A THREAT TO BELIEVERS IN CORINTH

Paul had written on the subject of food offered to idols (1 Corinthians 8). He returns once again to the topic of idolatry. Did idolatry pose a threat to believers in Corinth? Yes! Thus, Paul addressed this problem once again and most directly.

“Therefore, my beloved, flee from idolatry.
I speak as to wise men; judge for yourselves what I say.
The cup of blessing which we bless,
is it not the communion of the blood of Christ?
The bread which we break,
is it not the communion of the body of Christ?
For we, though many, are one bread and one body;
for we all partake of that one bread.”
1 Corinthians 10:14-17

6. “For we all partake of that one bread”

In partaking of the Lord’s Supper, we express that we are partakers of that one bread- Christ Jesus!
