"I will show you the bride, the Lamb's wife"

Text: Revelation 21:9

IN ANGELIC COMPANY

Many angels are mentioned in the Book of Revelation. John was privileged to be in angelic company. One of them showed him a special vision concerning the bride of the Lamb!

“Then one of the seven angels who had the seven bowls
filled with the seven last plagues came to me
and talked with me, saying,
‘Come, I will show you the bride, the Lamb’s wife.'”
Revelation 21:9

1. The Seven Angels who had the Seven Bowls of wrath.

a) Each angel was given a bowl to be poured out.

b) Each bowl was filled with the judgment of God.

c) Plagues came with these bowls of wrathful judgment.

d) These were the Seven last plagues sent by God because of the wickedness of man’s heart.

2. This angel was friendly towards John.

a) There was no reason for John to fear this angel.

b) This angel happily brought up the subject of the Lamb’s Bride.

c) He offered to show John the Bride of the Lamb.

3. The Theme of a Marriage Supper.

a) This was featured in the Parables of the Lord.

b) The following Parables featured a Wedding Theme:

i) The Marriage of the King’s son (Matthew 22:1-14).

ii) The Parable of the Ten Virgins (Matthew 25:1-13).

4. The Church is the Bride of the Lamb.

a) The Apostle Paul made clear reference to the Church as the Bride of the Lord Jesus (Ephesians 5).

b) This was a beautiful way of describing the precious relationship the Lord Jesus has with the Church (Ephesians 5:22-33).

c) The 2nd Coming of the Lord should be looked upon as a very precious and joyous event for the Lord has come to receive His Bride into His kingdom in heaven.
