"He who overcomes shall inherit all things"

Text: Revelation 21:7

THE OVERCOMER

In the assessment of the Seven Churches of Asia Minor (Revelation 2-3), all believers were encouraged to be “Overcomers”. This was another encouraging word given to the Overcomers!

“He who overcomes shall inherit all things,
and I will be his God and he shall be My son.
But the cowardly, unbelieving, abominable,
murderers, sexually immoral, sorcerers, idolaters,
and all liars shall have their part in the lake
which burns with fire and brimstone,
which is the second death.”
Revelation 21:7-8

1. “He who overcomes”

a) It is possible to be an Overcomer.

b) He will “inherit all things”.

c) He will have a special relationship with God.

d) He would have a special “Father-son” relationship.

2. “The second death”

a) The first death.

This is a reference to the end of life of a human being.

b) The second death.

i) This comes after the great white throne judgment.

ii) The wicked and unrepentant would be sentenced to the “second death”.

3. A short list of those who would suffer the second death:

a) The cowardly

b) The unbelieving

c) The abominable

d) The murderers

e) The sexually immoral

f) The sorcerers

g) The idolaters

h) All liars

4. The lake of fire and brimstone.

a) This is where the wicked would be sent.

b) They shall have their part in the lake which burns with fire and brimstone.

c) This is a description of “the second death”.
