"Praise our God"

Text: Revelation 19:5

HEAVENLY WORSHIP

Two groups were singled out for special mention. The example of their worship is worth noting.

“Again they said, ‘Alleluia! Her smoke rises up forever and ever!’
And the twenty-four elders and the four living creatures
fell down and worshiped God who sat on the throne, saying,
‘Amen! Alleluia!’
Then a voice came from the throne, saying,
‘Praise our God, all you His servants and those who fear Him,
both small and great!'”
Revelation 19:3-5

1. “Alleluia”

a) This is a word for “praise”.

b) Praise is a very strong element in the worship of God.

2. The smoke of Babylon.

a) Babylon was razed to the ground.

b) It was a great city:

i) In grandeur.

ii) In size.

c) The smoke that arose.

i) It seemed to rise up forever.

ii) The heavy smoke reflected the greatness of the destruction that was meted out to Babylon.

3. The two groups of people singled out for mention:

a) The twenty four elders.

b) The four living creatures.

c) They played a significant role in the worship of God.

d) We may say that they led in this special worship of God.

4. In response to this worship offered.

a) A voice came from the throne of God.

b) It was a call to confirm that this worship of God was good and correct.

i) The call was given to all the servants of God.

ii) It was given to all who feared and reverenced Him.

iii) Both the great and the small are to offer worship to the Lord.

iv) The worship of the twenty four elders and the four living creatures are affirmed.
