IN FAITHFULNESS YOU HAVE AFFLICTED ME

SEEING GOD’S HAND IN ALL MATTERS

The Psalmist sought to see God’s hand in everything that happened in his life. This included seeing the Lord’s hand even in affliction. 

73 Your hands have made me and fashioned me;

Give me understanding, that I may learn Your commandments.

74 Those who fear You will be glad when they see me,

Because I have hoped in Your word.

75 I know, O LORD, that Your judgments are right,

And that in faithfulness You have afflicted me.

76 Let, I pray, Your merciful kindness be for my comfort,

According to Your word to Your servant.     Psalm 119:73-76

  1. What we need from the Lord

a) To have understanding 

b) To learn well His commandments

c) To have hope in the Lord’s word

  1. Amidst affliction

a) God’s judgments are always right

b) Afflictions are not outside of His faithfulness

APPROPRIATE RESPONSE

  1. To seek the Lord’s tender mercies
  1. To find comfort in the Lord
  1. Therein is our hope and strength
