THE POWER OF GOD’S WORD

Power is inherent in God’s Word. It is clearly revealed in the establishment of the earth. It has to be personally experienced to be better appreciated.

89 Forever, O LORD,

Your word is settled in heaven.

90 Your faithfulness endures to all generations;

You established the earth, and it abides.

91 They continue this day according to Your ordinances,

For all are Your servants.

92 Unless Your law had been my delight,

I would then have perished in my affliction.

93 I will never forget Your precepts,

For by them You have given me life.     Psalm 119:89-93

  1. The nature of God’s word

a) It is a “settled word”

i)   It is settled in heaven

ii)  The mighty angels acknowledge it

b) It is tied in to God’s faithfulness

i)   It endures forever

ii)  It is evidenced in the establishment of the earth

iii) It is God and His word that sustains the earth

  1. Personal experience of God’s word

a) The Law can be such a delight to the soul

b) Without the Law one would have perished in afflictions

c) The word of God brings Life to the individual

OUR CHALLENGE

  1. To know God’s word better
  1. To delight in it
  1. To discover how God’s word sustains life
  1. To rejoice in the Word as our delight
