CHALLENGES TO THE FAITH

Israel had to face taunts concerning their faith in God. Idolaters could not understand why and how Israel could worship an Invisible God! The Psalmist offered a spiritual defence of faith in God.

1 Not unto us, O LORD, not unto us,

But to Your name give glory,

Because of Your mercy,

Because of Your truth.

2 Why should the Gentiles say,

“So where is their God?”

3 But our God is in heaven;

He does whatever He pleases.     Psalm 115:1-3

  1. The question of the unbelieving Gentiles

“Where is their God?”

  1. The answer begins with a commitment to give glory to God

a) Glory is to be given to God

b) His name deserves glory (praise and honour)

  1. Reasons for giving glory to God

a) Because He possesses mercy

b) Because of the Truth that comes from Him

  1. The Residence of God

a) The Lord is in heaven

b) He is sovereign

c) He does what is righteous and holy which are things that please Him

OUR CHALLENGE

  1. To sanctify the Lord in our heart
  1. To be ready to give an answer to anyone who may query our faith in God
  1. May we ever give praise and glory to the Lord our God!
