"Glory and honour and thanks"

Text: Revelation 4:9

PERPETUAL ADORATION

It is difficult to imagine the perpetual adoration that the four cherubim were able to give to God! The twenty-four elders were so moved that they also offered grateful worship of God!

“Whenever the living creatures give glory and honour and thanks
to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever,
the twenty-four elders fall down before Him who sits on the throne
and worship Him who lives forever and ever,
and cast their crowns before the throne, saying:
‘You are worthy, O Lord,
To receive glory and honour and power;
For You created all things,
And by Your will they exist and were created.'”
Revelation 4:9-11

1. The adoration and worship given to the LORD God.

a) This was given by the four cherubim.

b) They offered worship to God.

i) They gave glory and honour.

ii) They gave thanks to Him who sits on the throne, who lives forever and ever.

c) They recognised the Lord:

i) For who He is.

ii) For His eternal being.

2. The response of the twenty-four elders.

a) They responded in heartfelt worship too.

b) They prostrated themselves before the One who sits on the throne.

c) They cast their crowns before the throne with these words.

d) Crowns represent dignity, worth and majesty.

e) But they acknowledged that it is the Lord who deserves all praise and worship.

i) “You are worthy, O Lord”

ii) “To receive glory and honour and power”

iii) “For You created all things”

iv) “And by Your will they exist and were created”
