HE WILL BE A SANCTUARY

Text: Isaiah 8

THE TIMES OF THE PROPHET ISAIAH

We have a glimpse of the time Isaiah lived in. That was a dark and dreary time indeed.

11 For the LORD spoke thus to me with a strong hand, and instructed me that I should not walk in the way of this people, saying:

12 “Do not say, ‘A conspiracy,’

Concerning all that this people call a conspiracy,

Nor be afraid of their threats, nor be troubled.

13 The LORD of hosts, Him you shall hallow;

Let Him be your fear,

And let Him be your dread.

14 He will be as a sanctuary,

But a stone of stumbling and a rock of offense

To both the houses of Israel,

As a trap and a snare to the inhabitants of Jerusalem.

15 And many among them shall stumble;

They shall fall and be broken,

Be snared and taken.”     Isaiah 8:11-15

  1. Conspiracy theory people

a) They have been around for hundreds of years

b) They were highly influential

  1. God had to speak to Isaiah with a strong hand

a) He must not go with the flow of these people

b) He must learn to practise the fear of God instead

OUR CHALLENGE

  1. To find in God our Sanctuary
  1. To hallow Him always
  1. To reject the way of those who follow wicked ways!
