THE LORD HIMSELF WILL GIVE YOU A SIGN

THE PROBLEM OF UNBELIEF

Unbelief is the opposite of having faith in God. King Ahaz had a renowned grandfather, King Uzziah, who built Judah into a very strong and wealthy nation.

Ahaz was the opposite of King Uzziah. He was weak and cowardly. Worse, he was idolatrous and rebellious.

GOD’S MERCY BESTOWED

God showed much mercy. He sent Isaiah, a prominent prophet to King Ahaz. But the errant king refused to heed the word of God given to him. Nevertheless, Isaiah gave to Ahaz an amazing prophetic word.

13 Then he said, “Hear now, O house of David! Is it a small thing for you to weary men, but will you weary my God also? 

14 Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a Son, and shall call His name Immanuel.     Isaiah 7:13-14

  1. A rebuke to Ahaz

a) He wearied men (his people)

b) He wearied God also

i)   Stubborn 

ii)  Rebellious 

iii) Idolatrous

  1. A remarkable prophecy

a) God will Himself give a special sign

b) A virgin will conceive and bear the Son of God

c) That Child to born would be called “Immanuel”

ENTERING INTO THE SEASON OF ADVENT

We begin preparation for Advent 2025. Our focus is on the Lord Jesus as the Light that shines in a world of great darkness. Let us look forward to celebrating Advent!
