GOOD AND UPRIGHT IS THE LORD

Text: Psalm 25

A DEEP UNDERSTANDING OF GOD

The Psalmist had discovered much about the Lord. In this short text he highlights what he has learned about God.

8 Good and upright is the LORD;

Therefore He teaches sinners in the way.

9 The humble He guides in justice,

And the humble He teaches His way.

10 All the paths of the LORD are mercy and truth,

To such as keep His covenant and His testimonies.

11 For Your name’s sake, O LORD,

Pardon my iniquity, for it is great.     Psalm 25:8-11

  1. Precious attributes of God

a) That the Lord is good

b) And that He is also upright

  1. Gracious deeds of God

a) He will teach sinners in the way they should go

b) He will guide the humble in His way of justice

c) He will teach the humble His way

  1. The paths of the Lord

a) They are characterized by mercy

b) They are distinguished by truth

c) The paths of the Lord are shown to those who keep His covenant and truth

  1. A plea to the Lord

a) For His forgiveness

b) For cleansing of iniquities 

c) This confession was made candidly before the Lord

OUR CHALLENGE

  1. To draw nearer to the Lord
  1. To seek cleansing from our sins
  1. To ask the Lord to teach us His ways
