THE LORD OUR GOD

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH IN GOD

The Psalmist affirmed his personal faith in God. The basis of God’s blessing was the giving of an everlasting covenant to Abraham.

7 He is the LORD our God;

His judgments are in all the earth.

8 He remembers His covenant forever,

The word which He commanded, for a thousand generations,

9 The covenant which He made with Abraham,

And His oath to Isaac,

10 And confirmed it to Jacob for a statute,

To Israel as an everlasting covenant,

11 Saying, “To you I will give the land of Canaan

As the allotment of your inheritance,”     Psalm 105:7-11

  1. Features of this covenant

a) It is an everlasting covenant

b) It was made with an oath by God

c) It involves the land of Canaan

d) Canaan would be an inheritance given by God

LESSONS WE MAY LEARN

  1. Thank God we have a Covenant too
  1. It is called The New Covenant

a) It was given by the Lord

b) It is even greater in its significance

  1. We have every reason to celebrate our Covenant – faith in God

a) God will always remember His covenant

b) He will faithfully fulfil His commitment to His covenant given
