Text: Genesis 46: 1-4
MEDITATION
Genesis 46:1-4
1 So Israel took his journey with all that he had, and came to Beersheba, and offered sacrifices to the God of his father Isaac.
2 Then God spoke to Israel in the visions of the night, and said, “Jacob, Jacob!” And he said, “Here I am.”
3 So He said, “I am God, the God of your father; do not fear to go down to Egypt, for I will make of you a great nation there.
4 I will go down with you to Egypt, and I will also surely bring you up again; and Joseph will put his hand on your eyes.”
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. The journey to Egypt
a. Israel (Jacob. began the long journey to Egypt.
b. Total relocation was planned.
2. Stopping at Beersheba
This place was significant:
a. Abraham
He dug a well here (Well of Seven). {Genesis 21}
b. Isaac
He also dug a well here (Well of the Oath). {Genesis 26}
c. Jacob
i. New significance found at this place, Jacob worshipped the LORD.
ii. Sacrifices were offered to God.
3. A gracious word from the LORD
a. Calling out to Jacob tenderly; “Jacob, Jacob!”
b. Response of Jacob; “Here I am.”
c. Special form of communication: “Visions” (Dream).
4. Assurance given:
a. The One who was speaking to him was “The God of your father”.
b. There was no need to fear going down to Egypt.
c. God would bring him back to Canaan.
(His bones would be brought back to Canaan.)
d. Joseph would put his hand on his eyes.
i. Jacob would die in Egypt.
ii. Joseph would be there to close his eyelids.

1以色列带着一切所有的,起身来到别是巴,就献祭给他父亲以撒的神。
2夜间,神在异象中对以色列说:“雅各!雅各!”他说:“我在这里。”
3神说:“我是神,就是你父亲的神。你下埃及去不要害怕,因为我必使你在那里成为大族。4我要和你同下埃及去,也必定带你上来。约瑟必给你送终。 ”
