Only Believe

Who knows what anguish must have filled the heart,

When death threatens to pull the family apart?

Everything had been tried but nothing had prevailed,

It seems as if death had won, and naught avails.

But a father’s heart is one that is full of deep, deep love,

He will not rest till he has sought help from heaven above.

Jesus was nearby and Jairus’ heart was greatly stirred,

Would his friends understand if he sought His help. He feared!

A true father’s heart would not be bound by what people may say,

He must seek Jesus and humbly bow his knew to Him without delay.

His daughter’s life was in grave danger and every moment counts,

He rushed to seek Jesus, all his fears he managed to surmount.

Jesus proved to be kind and gracious and He walked to his house,

Jairus walked beside Him, his heart anxious, and he was quiet as a mouse.

His friends came to him with news that nearly broke his heart,

It was too late! His daughter was dead! His heart was torn apart!

Many fears gripped Jairus as he looked up to Jesus the Lord,

The Master was not perturbed, for He possessed the power of God!

“Only believe!” The Lord Jesus spoke to him and his heart became calm,

The words of the Lord Jesus, they acted like a wonderful balm.

Jesus drew near to the bed on which the little daughter of Jairus lay,

Everyone had been asked to leave the room; they had spread dismay.

Lovingly He held her hand, and spoke gently, and the little girl arose,

Jairus learned a lesson that day. Faith must prevail and unbelief opposed!
