The Silence of God

THE SILENCE OF GOD

1. Do not be silent to me   (Psalm 28:1b)

2. Fear of being brought down to the pit   (Psalm 28:1c)

CRYING OUT TO GOD AMIDST SILENCE

1. To You, I will cry, O LORD   (Psalm 28:1)

2. Hear the voice of my supplication   (Psalm 28:3)

3. When I lift up my hands toward Your sanctuary   (Psalm 28:3b)

(Cf. Psalm 26:6 “I will wash my hands in innocence”)

PLEA NOT TO BE PLACED AMONG THE WICKED

(Psalm 28:3-5)

1. Do not take me away with the wicked   (Psalm 28:3a)

2. With the workers of iniquity   (Psalm 28:3b)

3. Who speak peace with their neighbour

But evil is in their heart   (Psalm 28:3c)

IMPRECATORY ELEMENTS

1. Give them according to their deeds   (Psalm 28:4a)

2. According to the wickedness of their endeavours   (Psalm 28:4b)

3. Give them according to the work of their hands   (Psalm 28:4c)

4. Render to them what they deserve   (Psalm 28:4d)

UNDERSTANDING OF THE WICKED

1. Because they do not regard the works of the LORD   (Psalm 28:5a)

2. Nor the operation of His hands   (Psalm 28:5b)

3. He shall destroy them and not build them up   (Psalm 28:5c)

THANKSGIVING FOR ANSWERED PRAYERS

1. Blessed be the LORD   (Psalm 28:6a)

2. Because He has heard the voice of my supplications   (Psalm 28:6b)

EXPRESSIONS OF THANKSGIVING

1. Bearing testimony

a) The LORD is my strength and my shield   (Psalm 28:7a)
b) My heart trusted in Him and I am helped   (Psalm 28:7b)

2. Rejoicing in God

a) Therefore my heart greatly rejoices   (Psalm 28:7c)
b) And with my song I will praise Him   (Psalm 28:7d)

PROCLAMATION OF FAITH IN GOD

1. The LORD is their strength   (Psalm 28:8a)

2. He is the saving refuge of His anointed   (Psalm 28:8b)

SIGNIFICANT PRAYERS TO THE LORD

1. Save Your people   (Psalm 28:9a)

2. Bless Your inheritance   (Psalm 28:9b)

3. Shepherd them also   (Psalm 28:9c)

4. Bear them up forever   (Psalm 28:9d)
