Text: Exodus 34: 3-4
MEDITATION
Exodus 34:3-4
3 And no man shall come up with you, and let no man be seen throughout all the mountain; let neither flocks nor herds feed before that mountain.”
4 So he cut two tablets of stone like the first ones. Then Moses rose early in the morning and went up Mount Sinai, as the LORD had commanded him; and he took in his hand the two tablets of stone.
MEANINGFUL APPLICATION TO LIFE
1. Clear and firm instructions
a. Nobody else was invited to meet with the Lord God.
b. “No man” would include:
i. Aaron
ii. The elders
iii. Even Joshua
2. Further restrictions
a. No flocks near the mountain.
b. No herds as well.
c. They could easily stray and draw near to the mountain.
d. Their owners would, of course, try and retrieve them.
e. They could easily walk on “holy ground”.
3. Full obedience to the Lord God
a. He had cut the stone tablets.
b. He arose early in the morning.
c. He ascended the mountain of God once again.
Moses was glad and hopeful of a favourable result of this meeting with the Lord.
