"God has revealed them to us through His Spirit..."

Text: 1 Corinthians 2:10

THEOLOGICAL AND PRACTICAL SIGNIFICANCE

How should we understand the theological and practical significance of what we read in the Scriptures, especially about being filled with the Spirit? Could this happen to us today? Could we be Spirit-filled and led? These and other questions must be raised and studied carefully, in the hope that we would learn invaluable lessons that would lead us to a more Spirit-filled life and ministry.

A GLORIOUS ETERNAL PLAN

As we read the Scriptures, we discover that God has a glorious and eternal plan. Salvation in Christ Jesus enables us to enter into His Kingdom as His elect children! But is the forgiveness of our sins and salvation in Christ the end of God’s plan?

“But as it is written:
‘Eye has not seen, nor ear heard,
Nor have entered into the heart of man
The things which God has prepared for those who love Him.'”
1 Corinthians 2:9

1. “The things which God has prepared”

a) God has many things prepared.
b) What are some of these things?
i) Blessings in the heavenly region (Ephesians 1:3-14).

ii) The Holy Spirit was one special blessing from the Lord (Ephesians 1:13-14).

2. “It is written”

a) What God has planned is beyond what we may imagine.
i) Beyond what our eyes have seen.
ii) Beyond what our ears have heard.
iii) Beyond what has entered into the heart of man.
b) The Scriptures reveal many glorious truths
i) Ordinary people can become significant servants of God.
ii) They can become great prophets, apostles and faithful leaders.
iii) They can receive great power for life and ministry.
iv) They can become Spirit-filled servants of God by the grace of God.

3. “For those who love Him”

a) This is an important criterion to note.
b) God’s special plan of blessing involves those who know Him and truly love Him.
c) Our challenge is to learn how we may love the Lord and be filled by His Spirit.
