EVEN TO GRAY HAIRS
When we were young, we feared many things;
We feared the unknown, darkness, bad feelings.
We turned to our parents for comfort in distress;
Their presence, their assurance lightened the duress.
When we grew older, we feared nothing;
We were confident, we trusted in our feelings.
We were in danger because of our foolish pride;
Mercifully, we were able to take things in stride.
When we become gray-headed the fears return;
We find ourselves weak and we are terribly infirm.
The challenges come with age-related matters;
The Lord urges us to trust in His righteousness.
The Lord has made us and He will continue to care;
We need not give in to feelings of fear and despair.
The Lord has committed Himself to caring for us;
We may trust in His promises and His holiness!
