(I) GOD SPOKE IN TIME PAST

“God, who at various times and in various ways spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets” Hebrews 1:1

1. God spoke in time past to the fathers by the prophets

a) The LORD our God spoke to us in Horeb… (Deuteronomy 1:6)

The LORD talked with you face to face… (Deuteronomy 5:4)

b) The LORD spoke to me… (Deuteronomy 2:2, 17)

c) The LORD commanded me… (Deuteronomy 4:14)

2. Significance

a) That you might know that the LORD Himself is God (Deuteronomy 4:35a)

b) There is none other besides Him (Deuteronomy 4:35b)

c) That He might instruct you (Deuteronomy 4:36a)

d) You shall therefore keep His statutes (Deuteronomy 4:40a)

(II) AT VARIOUS TIMES AND IN VARIOUS WAYS

1. In Egypt, through signs and wonders

The LORD showed signs and wonders before our eyes,
Great and severe, against Egypt, Pharaoh and all his household… (Deuteronomy 6:22)

2. At Mount Sinai

These words the LORD spoke to all your assembly,
in the mountain from the midst of the fire, the cloud,
and the thick darkness, with a loud voice… (Deuteronomy 5:22)

(III) BY THE PROPHETS

1. Isaiah

Whom shall I send, and who will go for Us? (Isaiah 6:8)

2. Jeremiah

Before you were born I sanctified you;
I ordained you a prophet to the nations. (Jeremiah 1:5)

(IV) GOD SPOKE- BY HIS SON

“Has in these last days spoken to us by His Son, whom He has appointed heir of all things, through whom also He made the worlds.” Hebrews 1:2

1. His Son

a) Heir of all things

b) Co-creator

2. In these last days

a) The signaling of the last days

b) The commencement of the last days

3. Significance of the Teachings of Jesus

a) He represents God as no other prophets could

b) He comes with all authority in heaven and earth

(V) CELEBRATING EASTER 2013

1. But we see Jesus (Hebrews 2:9)

2. Re-discovery of the majesty of the Lord Jesus

3. New appreciation of Jesus as our Saviour and Lord
