INTRODUCTION

1. We have a wonderful God of grace

2. We can respond to Him in faith

THE SINFUL STATE OF THE WORLD IN THE DAYS OF NOAH

1. The sin of man (Genesis 6:5)

a. His wickedness was great (Genesis 6:5)
b. Every intent of the thoughts of his heart was only evil continually

2. God’s response (Genesis 6:7)

a.The LORD was sorry that He had made man on the earth (Genesis 6:6)
b. He would destroy man (Genesis 6:7)
c. This is God’s righteous response to sin

3. The state of the world today

a. Sinful
b. Problematic

A WONDERFUL GOD OF GRACE

1. God related to Noah (Genesis 6:13, Genesis 7:1)

a. He would speak to Noah (Genesis 6:13, Genesis 7:1)
b. He would do so repeatedly

2. God revealed things to Noah (Genesis 6:13-21)

a. His will (Genesis 6:13-21)
b. His plans
c. His wonderful plan of salvation

3. God became real and personal to Noah

a. Noah listened to God’s Word and obeyed (Genesis 6:22, Genesis 7:5)
b. This was described as Noah’s “walk” with God (Genesis 6:9)

4. God saved Noah and his family

a. Saved from judgment
b. Saved from the flood

A RESPONSE OF FAITH AND OBEDIENCE

1. Faith and obedience go together

a. Faith lies behind obedience
b. Obedience is an expression of faith

2. Features of Noah’s faith (Hebrews 11:7)

a. His faith caused him to feel deeply concerned to obey God’s Word
i. There was a special regard for God’s Word
ii. There was deep concern to obey it
b. His faith caused him to act in obedience to God’s Word
i. To obey even when it was difficult to do so
ii. To obey completely

GOD’S SPECIAL GIFT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

1. God gives His righteousness to those who have true faith (Hebrews 11:7)

2. It is given according to our faith

CONCLUSION AND APPLICATION

1. God looks upon us with grace

a. God relates to us and reveals Himself to us
b. God can be wonderfully real and personal
c. God invites us to be saved from judgment

2. We can all respond to Him in faith

a. Hold on to faith in the midst of COVID-19 challenges
b. Let faith be seen in our obedience to God no matter the challenges of life
