THE CALL TO SEEK AND TAKE HEED TO WISDOM

Our eternal source of wisdom is the Lord God Himself. It is from Him that we can find great wisdom, understanding and knowledge. This wisdom from the Lord can be learnt through different means. It can be learnt from wise teachers and discerning parents. It can be learnt in practical ways from the “streets.” Wisdom calls out to us and it is up to us to want to listen, learn and heed her voice.

THE RESULTS OF HEEDING WISE EXHORTATIONS

When we respond well to wise exhortations, there will come some definite results. The Lord’s grace would be upon us when we keep sound wisdom and discretion (Proverbs 3:21-22). We will experience spiritual life within. We would also find grace from God to walk safely and not stumble in life. Wisdom will help us to have peace and stillness.

“When you lie down, you will not be afraid;
Yes, you will lie down and your sleep will be sweet.
Do not be afraid of sudden terror,
Nor of trouble from the wicked when it comes”
Proverbs 3:24-25

1. NO FEAR WHEN WE SLEEP

When we seek and heed wisdom, there is no need to fear when we want to sleep. There would be that peace of mind and quietness of heart to be able to sleep. Furthermore, we will enjoy sweetness of sleep at night.

2. NO NEED TO FEAR WHEN SUDDEN TERROR COMES

There is also no need to fear when sudden calamities come or when facing troubles created by those who are wicked and evil. There would be protection from the Lord.

THE LORD IS OUR CONFIDENCE

Why would there be this stillness of heart? The reason is because the Lord is our confidence.

“For the Lord will be your confidence,
And will keep your foot from being caught.”
Proverbs 3:26

1. THE LORD WILL BE YOUR CONFIDENCE – PAST EXAMPLES

“The Lord will be our confidence” as a concept is not something new. In the past, the Lord had taught this to Moses and David about He being their confidence. They were humble and were wise enough to learn these lessons well. The prophet and the king sought to exercise faith in the Lord’s presence and protection. When in times of sudden terror and adversities, they remembered the Lord and He was there for them. They believed and experienced the Lord as their confidence.

2. THE LORD WILL BE YOUR CONFIDENCE – PERSONAL WISE EXHORTATION

The Lord as our confidence is something that all of us can have too. His presence and protection will be there with us if we take heed to His wisdom and trust in Him. There is no need to fear whatever may come our way. Our foot will not only not stumble. It will also not be “entrapped” in life. Sudden terrors and troubles from evil people may come, but the Lord will deliver us. We would not be “trapped” by them.

As we continue to fight Covid-19 and think about vaccination, let’s not allow ourselves to give in to fear. Let’s learn to trust the Lord and fear Him; He will be our confidence in life. Let’s wisely focus on the Lord till there is no more fear in life. He will specially watch over us and keep us safe.
