Reviewing Definite Areas

As we end the first half of the year, it is good for us to take some time to review our life. Students normally receive report cards with reference to how they are doing academically. With reference to our spiritual life, what would our report card be like? How did we fare? As we meditate on Psalm 18, there were certain things that the Psalmist saw as part of his life. It is along these lines that we want to evaluate our own walk with God. There are four questions we want to ask ourselves:

1. Do We Know God In A Deeper Way?

“The Lord is my rock and my fortress and my deliverer;
My God, my strength”

Psalm 18:2

The Psalmist knew God in so many different ways. He had grown in his understanding and knowledge of God. Have we also grown in our knowledge of God?

2. Is There A Deeper Love For God?

“I will love You, O Lord, my strength.”
Psalm 18:1

David learnt to love the Lord in a greater way. He had come to appreciate the sufficiency of God and sought to love Him more. Have we grown in our love for God?

3. Are We Walking In Righteousness?

“The Lord rewarded me according to my righteousness;
According to the cleanness of my hands”

Psalm 18:20

David was also able to see that he was walking right with God. He was able to see how his personal righteousness affected the way God rewarded him.

4. Are We Spiritually Stronger?

“It is God who arms me with strength,
And makes my way perfect.”

Psalm 18:32

It was the Lord who had made David stronger. There was greater spiritual strength in his life. Is there greater spiritual strength in ours too? Let’s take time to check our spiritual life and walk with God. Let’s seek to sort out whatever area that is not right before Him.

Giving Thanks To God

“Therefore I will give thanks to you, O Lord, among the Gentiles,
And sing praises to your name.”

Psalm 18:49

As we take time to review our lives, let’s also be able to see the Lord’s hand in our lives. Let’s not forget to give thanks and to sing praises to Him. The Lord has been good to us. Let’s seek to thank the Lord for His mercies and to sing to His name.
