The Example Of The Lord Jesus In Learning From God

The Lord Jesus Christ is our perfect example of how a person should learn from God. In the text of Isaiah 50:4, Isaiah foretold how the Lord Jesus would be trained by the Lord God morning by morning. He would teach His Son how he would be fully and effectively equipped for the ministry.

“The Lord God has given Me
The tongue of the learned,
That I should know how to speak
A word in season to him who is weary.”

Isaiah 50:4

God gave to His Son a deep knowledge of His ways so that He knew what to say to a person who was discouraged. The Lord Jesus became most effective in ministry. If we want to know how to be effective in ministry, we too need to learn as Jesus did.

Following The Example Of The Lord Jesus

How did the Lord Jesus learn from God?

1. Keeping A Daily Routine Of Meeting With God Morning By Morning

“He awakens Me morning by morning”
Isaiah 50:4

God woke up the Lord Jesus each morning so that He could teach Him. Morning after morning, the Lord Jesus sought to be with His Father. He cultivated a routine of meeting with God each day. We too must learn to meet God each morning, and to learn from the Scriptures.

2. Seeking To Be A Humble Learner

“He awakens My ear
To hear as the learned.”

Isaiah 50:4

As Jesus met with God each morning, He sought to hear the Lord’s voice. He was humble enough to learn from His Father. Do we seek to listen to the still small voice of the Lord speaking to us? Our challenge is always to be good learners of His word.

3. Understanding And Submitting To What The Lord Is Teaching

“The Lord God has opened My ear;
And I was not rebellious,
Nor did I turn away.

Isaiah 50:5

Ultimately, the Lord has to open our ears to hear what He is teaching us. He has to help us understand His word. Sometimes, the lessons may be tough to apply. We must learn not to be rebellious against His teachings. Our part is to learn and submit to His will. Let’s seek to learn from the Lord morning by morning and to be obedient to His word.
