Rediscovering A God Of Endless Strength

There were many times when the Israelites found themselves struggling with their faith in God. They had many doubts and wrong ideas about Him. There was this particular time when they thought that God had hidden Himself from their predicaments. The people of Israel in the day of Isaiah complained that God did not care about what they were going through (Isaiah 40:27). The Lord had to help His people to rediscover Him as a God of endless power and strength. The Prophet Isaiah sought to engage the Israelites to think about this truth.

“Have you not known?
Have you not heard?
The everlasting God, the Lord,
The Creator of the ends of the earth,
Neither faints nor is weary.”

Isaiah 40:28

The people of Israel had to learn to once again to recognise the Lord as the Creator of the whole world. He is the One who is everlasting. He does not sleep nor is He ever weary. Maybe we, too, need to rediscover God as One who gives us strength always.

God Gives Strength When Our Store Of Strength Is Gone

“He gives power to the weak,
And to those who have no might He increases strength.
Even the youths shall faint and be weary,
And the young men shall utterly fall”

Isaiah 40:29-30

When we look at the strength of youth, it is very limited. It is certainly not unending. There will be times when the strength of youth gives way to weariness and tiredness. There will be times when young people will “fall flat on their faces” because they are so tired out. When we have utilised our own store of energy, the Lord makes His power available to us. He will give strength to the weak and the weary. He will increase their strength. Young people, do we know how to tap into this strength of the Lord?

Seeking Renewal Of Strength

“But those who wait on the Lord
Shall renew their strength;
They shall mount up with wings like eagles,
They shall run and not be weary,
They shall walk and not faint.”

Isaiah 40:31

How can we find renewal of strength? We must learn to depend and wait on the Lord. Instead of just depending on our own strength, let’s also learn to renew our strength by seeking the Lord. When we humbly depend on His grace and mercies, the Lord will give us a fresh store of strength all the time. When we take time to pray and read God’s word for renewal, He will help us to mount up with wings as eagles. We will run and not be weary. There will be everlasting strength made available to us. Young people, let’s seek the Lord for that renewal of strength each day. Let’s be strong in the Lord.
