CHECKING OUT OUR SALVATION

People Deceived By A False Sense Of Salvation

If there is one thing that we do not want to take for granted, it is our salvation. The Lord Jesus warned of how many will be deceived into thinking that they have salvation, but in reality, they only have a false sense of it.

“Not everyone who says to Me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ shall enter the kingdom of heaven… Many will say to Me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in Your name, cast out demons in Your name, and done many wonders in Your name?'”
Matthew 7:21, 22

These people have a formulaic approach to being part of the kingdom of God. They think that if they were to say the right things and participate in the right activities, they will have a ticket to heaven. How wrong they are! When people’s approach to salvation is merely formulaic, they may not be saved at all.

The Lord’s Rejection Of Such People

“And then I will declare to them, ‘I never knew you; depart from Me, you who practice lawlessness!'”
Matthew 7:23

The Lord’s declaration to such people is that He never knew them from the beginning.
There was no personal relationship with the Lord at all. Knowing the Lord Jesus requires us to respond by following His ways. But these people chose to practise lawlessness instead. The Lord refuses to give such people entrance into His kingdom and banishes them from His presence. What a frightening conclusion to one’s life!

Making Sure We Have Entrance Into The Kingdom Of God

How can we be sure that we have entrance into heaven? There are two questions we must ask ourselves.

1. Does The Lord Know You?

The Bible tells us that “the Lord knows those who are His” (2 Timothy 2:19). When we are truly genuine believers, we will belong to the Lord. He will regard us as His own

2. Are We Seeking To Do The Will Of The Father?

“He who does the will of My Father in heaven.”
Matthew 7:21

A person who knows the Lord will also seek to do His will. It will be natural for him to love the Father and to seek to please Him by doing His will. Young people, let’s seek to be sure of our salvation. Let’s seek to do the will of our Father in heaven.
