A Fruitful Disciple Glorifies The Father

God brought us into this world for a reason. We are not here by chance. There is a definite reason why God brought us into this world. He gave us life that we may live it well and use it to glorify Him. We are meant to honour and lift up the name of our Father with our lives. Very often, we are not as conscious of this central goal of life as we should. How can we glorify the Lord with our lives? The Lord Jesus taught His disciples that the way to glorify our Father is through a fruitful life.

“By this My Father is glorified that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples.”
John 15:8

The mark of true discipleship is seen in a life that bears much fruit. A disciple of Jesus cannot just speak of following the Lord and not be fruitful in life and ministry. This past year at YPG we have been emphasising the concept of discipleship. We have learned much about discipleship. Are we bearing fruit in our lives? Have we grown in our faith and in our love for others? Young people, it is good for us to evaluate whether our lives are bearing fruit. Let’s be challenged to glorify the Father by seeking to have fruitful lives.

Being Fruitful Through Prayer

“If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you.”
John 15:7

One way to be fruitful is through offering prayers that God would answer. It is through the power of prayer that our lives can bear much fruit. The Lord Jesus had taught much about prayer in the earlier chapters of John. In this passage, He was teaching His disciples about prayer in the light of abiding in Him. The disciples were meant to cultivate a deep and close relationship with the Lord Jesus. They were meant to abide in Him as branches would in a vine. His words were meant to remain within their hearts. Their lives should be cleansed by His word. In the light of these, when disciples ask what they desire in prayer, it will be done for them. They will be fruitful through making Christ-centred and word-centred prayers. Their lives will glorify the Lord.

Praying For Friends Who Do Not Know The Lord

One of the Lord’s concerns in prayer is soul winning work. Are we praying for our friends who do not know the Lord? A good way for them to come to know the Lord Jesus is through attending our Youth Conference. This Saturday, we will be having a pre-conference special to tell new comers what Youth Conference is all about. Let’s invite our non believing friends to come that they may see what it is about. Maybe, they might just be interested in coming. Let’s cover them specially in prayer. Let’s pray that they would come and that the Lord may speak to their hearts. Let’s pray with faith that the Lord would hear our prayers.
