The Lord is My Strength and My Help

This was my view of the Cliffs of Moher after 20 minutes of heavy snow and experiencing winds of more than 40 miles per hour. But as the dark clouds moved along and the sun came out, I remember stopping in my tracks to just take in the beauty of it all. (Although not captured in this photo, there was a rainbow that spanned across the sky!)

I couldn’t help but stand in awe of the Lord’s greatness and majestic power in His handiwork. At that moment, my heart was filled with praise and worship for our great God. But apart from seeing the Lord’s greatness and majestic power, I was also reminded of the Lord as my constant source of help and strength.

Psalm 28:7

The Lord is my strength and my shield;
My heart trusted in Him, and I am helped;
Therefore my heart greatly rejoices,
And with my song I will praise Him.”

Having been away from home for about two months now, I was reminded of the many times the Lord was my constant source of help, and His presence with me. The Lord’s help was personally experienced through various ways, one of them being the Lord placing different people in my path to help me with challenges I faced along the way.

The Lord has been my source of strength through this exchange journey, even through the times I felt lonely from being far away from home, from Bethany and from familiarity. He too was my shield, protecting me every step of the way, as I made my way from place to place.

It is truly comforting and assuring to know that the great and powerful God who created heaven and earth, and the cliffs, is my source of help and strength! Thus, my personal response echoes the words of King David, ‘Therefore my heart greatly rejoices, and with my song I will praise Him’.

May this picture be a reminder that the Lord is our help and strength when we call upon Him in humility and that we are never alone in times of difficulty!
