 Adoration of our heavenly Father

This Sunday, we will be celebrating Father’s Day. I would like to wish all fathers, “Happy Father’s Day!” On this special occasion, let us deeply appreciate our heavenly Father for who He is and all He has done for us. Let us seek to adore and honour Him specially.

The Apostle Paul wrote to the Ephesian brethren about being united in the Holy Spirit (Ephesians 4:3). He gave many reasons as to why the church should have oneness. Another reason is that we have one God…who has given us all spiritual blessings (Ephesians 1:3). He is rich in mercy and has loved us with His great love (Ephesians 2:4). Paul gave adulation to God for being our heavenly Father, “One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all.” (Ephesians 4:6) In what way did Paul adore God as his Father?

Father…of all

a. Paul appreciated that God is the Father of all.
b. God is the Father of the Lord Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:3).
c. God is also the Father of all who believe in Christ. Through Christ, we have access by the ministry of the Holy Spirit to God as our heavenly Father (Ephesians 2:18).
d. Wonderfully, we become adopted as sons by Jesus Christ (Ephesians 1:5).

Let us rejoice that we can relate closely to our heavenly Father as His children.

Father…above all

a. Paul wrote of God as the Father who is above all.
b. God sits on His heavenly throne as One who is sovereign over all.
c. Our Father reigns over all of heaven and earth. “Far above all principality and power and might and dominion, and every name that is named, not only in this age but also in that which is to come.” (Ephesians 1:21)
d. He is above all physical and spiritual beings…even those who are yet to come.
e. God rules with such profound might and glory, and yet He relates personally to us as our heavenly Father.

Let us stand in awe of this amazing privilege that we can have God as our heavenly Father.

Father…in all

a. It is marvellous to see how our heavenly Father works in all who believe.
b. He has poured all His blessings into our lives.
c. He does a special work in giving us His mercy and love.
d. We become His workmanship who are created in Christ Jesus (Ephesians 2:10).
e. We also don’t know fully what our heavenly Father would do in our lives…things that remain unknown, “Now to Him who is able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we ask or think, according to the power that works in us.” (Ephesians 3:20)

Let us deeply appreciate how our heavenly Father seeks to do a wonderful work in us.

Father…through all

a. The Lord also seeks to work through all of us who are His children.
b. The Greek word “dia” indicates “means”. We become His means in doing His work.
c. All of us as believers are His means to share the Lord’s blessings.
d. The Lord works through us as we seek to do His work…to do good works.
e. Through us, we can bring glory to our heavenly Father.

Let us offer great adoration to our heavenly Father for who He is and for all He has done.
