An exciting start to 2021

As with the previous years, the DML message that Pastor Charles gave was most encouraging. It is a message that would always set the tone for the year ahead. The focus on the Lord and His protection was most apt as we enter another year that is filled with many challenges and uncertainties.

Excitement filled my heart as we learnt about the shadow of God’s wings. Three things moved me…which I would like to hold onto as I enter 2021.

Encouragement to seek the Lord’s protection

1. Revelation

“Keep me as the apple of Your eye; hide me under the shadow of Your wings,” (Ps 17:8)

The prayer of David included a new thought…a revealed word from the Lord concerning His protection. I recognise how important it is to have a new revelation as we pray to the Lord. We can pray for protection…that the Lord would shelter us under His wings. His wings would shadow us amidst our challenges. He would also lovingly keep us as the apple of His eye. God’s protection reflects His tender love for us. This heart-warming thought has been revealed to us. Let us understand and respond to this truth as we face the challenges of 2021.

2. Reside

“I will abide in Your tabernacle forever; I will trust in the shelter of Your wings.” (Ps 61:4)

The harsh realities of life can be difficult and overwhelming. David sets the example for us to learn to reside in the Lord. We can abide in the Lord as our perfect shelter…a strong tabernacle and tower. There is no greater protection than the Lord Himself. As we believe that God would protect us, let us learn to place our trust in the shelter of the Lord’s wings. Facing the challenges ahead, let us be encouraged to reside in the Lord’s protection.

3. Resonance

The truth of the Lord as our shelter resonates with me. We thank God for the Word of God that continues to bring much comfort and encouragement to the heart. The concept of the shadow of the Lord’s wings brings not only an uplift to our spirit but also continues to sustain us amidst the challenges ahead. The Lord’s protection has become that much more alive to me as we begin 2021. Let us appreciate how the truth of the shadow of the Lord’s wings has new resonance with us.

The extent of our need for the Lord’s protection

To what extent are we aware of our need for the Lord’s protection?

  1. Globally… The world is struggling to contain the spread of the COVID-19 virus. We need to pray for the Lord’s protection for the world.
  2. Nation… As a nation, we thank God for His keeping thus far. Yet our need to continue to seek the Lord’s sheltering is vital as the country slowly opens.
  3. Church… We thank God that we have entered phase three and the Lord continues to cover us. Let us not take this for granted but to keep praying.
  4. Individually… As we enter 2021, let us seek the Lord’s protection in facing the challenges ahead. For me, I am praying specially for the Lord’s keeping of my mom.

Let us be challenged to seek the Lord’s protection in facing the difficulties ahead.
