A blessed and happy Christmas

It is Christmas day! I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very Blessed and Merry Christmas. It is indeed the best day of the year. May the Lord truly fill our hearts with joy and praise. The study of the theme of the glory of God has been most enlightening. Many lessons have ministered to my heart. Let me highlight a few in thanksgiving.

Special lessons about the glory of God

1. Sensing the glory of the Lord

It was indeed an eye-opening lesson when Pastor Charles taught us about how we can sense the glory of the Lord. It is to use our senses. It was what Moses and the people of Israel sensed when they went through the wilderness as God showed His glory. The people saw the glory of God in the pillar of cloud by day and a pillar of fire by night. (Ex 14:24) They tasted of the water and food that God provided. (Ex 16) Israel heard the roaring of the waters of the Red Sea when it divided and later closed upon the Egyptians army. (Ex 14:27) They could also touch the glory of God as they walked on dry ground through the Red Sea. (Ex 14:29) When the people of Israel saw the great work of God, their emotions sensed and feared the Lord. (Ex 14:31) They were also able to sense the Lord in the spirit, to believe and to have faith in God and Moses. (Ex 14:31) Let us learn to heighten our sensing of the glory of God.

2. The earth is full of His glory

The prophet Isaiah got a glimpse of the glory of God in heaven. We may not have the same glimpse of that glory as Isaiah did. But we can certainly discover the glory of God on this earth. How do we see the glory of God on this earth? God has shown His glory through His marvellous works. David wrote, “Remember His marvelous works which He has done, His wonders, and the judgments of His mouth,” (1 Chron 16:12) We have a treasury of God’s marvellous works in the past. They are to be remembered and for us to see the glory of God. As we come to the close of 2019, we should take time to remember the works of God in which His glory had been shown. Let us respond with singing praise to God, as David did.

3. The glory in God in the Lord Jesus

“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us, and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.” (John 1:14)

The glory of God is not only found in an event, place or work. It is also found in a Person. The glory of God was found in the Lord Jesus. The Apostle John was able to ponder about the Lord Jesus, and he was able to perceive who He was. He was the Living Word made flesh. John and the other disciples beheld His glory. It made a profound impact on him. He was able to see Jesus as one who was full of grace and truth. No one reflected grace as the Lord Jesus did. No one spoke and taught the truth as the Lord Jesus did. It was a unique glory that Jesus manifested in being full of grace and truth. Let us truly appreciate the Lord’s glory.

4. The personal touch of the Lord

The Lord Jesus also showed His glory through His personal touch. At the wedding of Cana, even though there was not enough wine and it was not time for Him to commence His ministry, He sought to resolve the present problem by turning the water into wine. (John 2) Not everyone knew what He had done. Through His personal touch, our problems can be solved too. His personal touch reflects the glory of God. Let us appreciate how the personal touch of the Lord Jesus can make a difference in our lives and show us the glory of God. Let us be deeply grateful as we catch a glimpse of the glory of the Lord this Christmas.
