GOLIATH: THE CHAMPION OF THE PHILISTINES

3. For 40 days his challenge went unanswered 1 Samuel 17:16

ISRAEL HAD NO ANSWER

1. Great fear gripped Israel

2. Many young men conscripted to go to war

3. Three oldest sons of Jesse in the army 1 Samuel 17:13

DAVID SENT TO SEE HIS BROTHERS

1. He was sent by his father to see his brothers

2. He brought some food for them

3. Some cheese for the captain 1 Samuel 17:17-18

DAVID HEARD THE CHALLENGE OF GOLIATH

1. He did feel any fear

2. He felt angry that Goliath was
Defying the armies of the living God 1 Samuel 17:26

3. His brothers were upset with him 1 Samuel 17:28

DAVID BROUGHT TO KING SAUL

1. He volunteered to fight Goliath B

2. Saul noted his youth
And declared that he was able to fight Goliath 1 Samuel 17:33

DAVID’S TESTIMONY

1. He had fought off a lion

2. He had also fought off a bear

3. He had killed these beasts 1 Samuel 17:34-36

CONFIDENCE IN DEFEATING GOLIATH

1. It was the LORD who had delivered him
In the past 1 Samuel 17:37

2. He would deliver David
From the hand of this Philistine 1 Samuel 17:37

SAUL’S PROVISION OF A SUIT OF ARMOUR

1. This was offered to David

2. It was wisely declined 1 Samuel 17:38-39

DAVID AND HIS WEAPONS
