- An analysis of why people follow
- Because others follow
- Lack of in-depth understanding
- Appealing
- Looks
- Dreams
- Is it dangerous?
- Sometimes it is a phase
- Sometimes it is a scam
- Sometimes it is very dangerous (cults)
- The Invitation of the Lord Jesus Christ
“Follow Me”
- Four fishermen Matthew 4:18-21
- An individual called Matthew Matthew 9:9-13
- Philip and Nathanael John 1:43-51
- Why did these people follow the Lord Jesus Christ?
Because they were convinced He was the Anointed One (The Messiah – John 1:41)
- Because He is the Son of God and the King of Israel John 1:49
- Because they saw and appreciated the Person of the Lord Jesus Christ
- The Message He preached Matthew 4:12-17
- The Ministry He had Matthew 4:23-25
- The Man that He was The Lamb of God John 1:29, 35
- An Invitation
- To know the Lord Jesus Christ
- To find faith in Him
- To follow Him
- To build “the same spirit of faith”
POEM
FOLLOW ME
Many follow others because of their art;
They are trendy, successful, and smart!
The heart is stirred and following begins;
The dangers are ignored even if there is sin!
Following Jesus is a totally different thing;
His life and ministry do not seem appealing.
The road He walks on is hard and narrow;
But those who followed Him have no sorrow!
Jesus offers faith and life eternal to all who hear:
He offers the Kingdom of God to all who draw near.
He offers love and strength to change their life;
He will enable all with power to overcome strife!
There is no need to hold back if we feel unworthy to follow;
His invitation is real and He offers a great new tomorrow!
Many have found Jesus and walked with Him a good mile;
Their lives have been changed and they now wear a smile!
