YOUTH CONFERENCE 2017 3-7 December Theme: “The Same Spirit of Faith”
THE SPIRIT OF FAITH IN THE APOSTLE PAUL
- No fear of death because of faith in God
- Faith to believe that God raised up the Lord Jesus Christ
“Knowing that He who raised up the Lord Jesus” 2 Corinthians 4:14a - Faith to believe that God will also raise up all believers in Christ
“Will also raise us up with Jesus” 2 Corinthians 4:14b
- Faith to believe that God raised up the Lord Jesus Christ
- No losing of heart
- Not even when the outward man is perishing
“Therefore we do not lose heart.
Even though our outward man is perishing” 2 Corinthians 4:16a - Because the inward man (the spirit)
“Yet the inward man is being renewed day by day” 2 Corinthians 4:16b
- Not even when the outward man is perishing
- A courageous outlook of life and its difficulties
- Affliction
“Our light affliction, which is but for a moment” 2 Corinthians 4:17a - A higher plan of God at work
“Is working for us a far more
Exceeding and eternal weight of glory” 2 Corinthians 4:17b
- Affliction
- Looking at things with spiritual eyes
- The physical things of life
“While we do not look at the things which are seen,
But at the things which are not seen” 2 Corinthians 4:18a - The eternal things
“For the things which are seen are temporary,
But the things which are not seen are eternal” 2 Corinthians 4:18b
- The physical things of life
- A clear knowledge and strong faith
- This mortal life
- Our earthly house 2 Corinthians 5:1a

- This mortal life
- Our hope in the eternal

- Longing for heaven
- Deep longing for heaven
“For in this we groan, earnestly desiring
To be clothed with our habitation
Which is from heaven” 2 Corinthians 5:2 - To be fully and wonderfully clothed
“But further clothed,
That mortality may be swallowed up by life” 2 Corinthians 5:4
- Deep longing for heaven
- The gift of the Holy Spirit
- A special gift from God
- A Divine guarantee
“Now He who has prepared us for this very thing is God,
Who also has given us the Spirit as a guarantee.” 2 Corinthians 5:5
- Confidence
- Always confident
“So we are always confident” 2 Corinthians 5:6
(Confidence- “courage, boldness”) - Confident and well-pleased
“We are confident, yes, well-pleased
Rather to be absent from the body and to be present with the Lord” 2 Corinthians 5:8
(Confidence- “courage, boldness”)(NB. The word translated “confidence” here is different from the word usedIn 1 Corinthians 1:9 “trust”
In 1 Corinthians 1:15- “confidence”
In 1 Corinthians 2:3- “confidence” -Greek peitho
The word used here speaks of “courage” -Greek tharreo)
- Always confident
- Faith
For we walk by faith, not by sight 2 Corinthians 5:7
THE SAME SPIRIT OF FAITH IN US
- We can have the same spirit of faith
- It is up to us to respond to what we have learned
- Do we desire to have this same spirit of faith?
