UPWARD CALL: A MEANINGFUL PRAYER
1. Cultivation of a Christian Heart of love Philippians 1:9
a) To abound
b) More and More
2. Context of this abounding love Philippians 1:9
a) In knowledge
b) All discernment
3. Concrete Expressions of this love in real life (Fruit) Philippians 1:10
a) Ability to approve things that are excellent
b) Sincerity
c) Without Offense
d) Duration – “till the day of Christ”
e) Filled with fruits of righteousness
4. Christ Jesus Philippians 1:11
a) He is the Mediator (“by Jesus Christ”)
b) He hears our prayers
5. Concerns Philippians 1:11
a) To the glory of God
b) To the praise of God
6. Challenges
a) The above cannot be achieved by our own strength
b) These must be brought to the Lord humbly in prayer
i) Personal Prayer
ii) Intercessory Prayer
